  • Amidst the global economic crisis, financial management becomes paramount. In Brazil, despite the downward trend in inflation, gaps in financial literacy persist, impacting the well-being of over 71 million Brazilians who were in arrears as of November 2023. The research, conducted through a survey administered to Public Servants of UNIFEI, sought to assess financial literacy and understand the financial well-being of these professionals. The survey results indicate that over 60% of the technical-administrative education servers (STAEs) at UNIFEI can be considered financially literate. Regarding the perception of financial well-being, the average score was 55.95 on a scale ranging from 14 to 86. Although the results were positive, challenges in financial control persist. Even with an above-average understanding of financial concepts, there are specific areas that require attention, highlighting the need for personalized educational strategies. The assessment of financial well-being, despite a moderate perception, raises concerns about current financial control, indicating challenges that require specific approaches and a better understanding of what truly influences this well-being, impacting the quality of life and health of these servers. In conclusion, the continuous promotion of financial literacy is indispensable to enhance behaviors and attitudes in personal financial management. Personalized interventions in the workplace are proposed, linking financial literacy to the institution's social responsibility. These actions not only benefit STAEs individually but also have the potential to positively impact organizational outcomes, proving essential to improve financial literacy and the financial well-being of UNIFEI's public servants.

  • The outsourcing of services with exclusive dedication of labor brings with it the problem of its inspection, which can lead to the loss of important tacit knowledge for the improvement of the process. Knowledge is a valuable resource for the organizational environment and knowledge management practices can contribute both to retaining and transferring knowledge in the best way. In this context, the objective of this research is to propose a system for the inspection process of outsourced contracts of the Federal Institute of Education, Science and Technology of the South of Minas Gerais (IFSULDEMINAS) based on the adoption of knowledge management practices. The research was conducted using the case study method, having as the unit of analysis the group of inspectors and contract managers on the campuses, composed of 78 civil servants. As a result, critical success factors and best knowledge management practices for federal higher education institutions were identified; the main challenges and difficulties that interfere with the exercise of the inspection function; as well as the expectation and perception of inspectors about knowledge management practices, in order to obtain the most relevant ones for improving performance. These results served as a basis for the preparation of the action plan for IFSULDEMINAS, being an opportunity to improve the inspection of outsourced contracts. As a technical result, a manual of good knowledge management practices was prepared for the inspection of service contracts with exclusive dedication of labor applicable to federal institutions of higher education.

  • The Institutional Scientific Initiation Scholarship Program has the following main objectives: to contribute to the formation of human resources for research, to qualify students for graduate programs and to contribute to reducing the average length of stay in graduate school. Therefore, a system to follow up Scientific Initiation (CI) graduates should be part of the management of the HEIs, as it makes it possible, through information, to keep track of the academic and professional trajectory, the absorption of these graduates in master's and doctoral courses and the impact on society, in addition to providing subsidies for the planning of institutional actions. For this type of follow-up, the use of data analysis tools is fundamental, among which Business Intelligence (BI) stands out. The main component of a BI is the Data Warehouse (DW), which is a data repository whose purpose is to feed the BI, reports and analytical functions generating information. Therefore, this study had as main objective to propose a Data Warehouse environment for the monitoring of graduates of the scientific initiation of the Federal Institute of Education, Science and Technology of the South of Minas (IFSULDEMINAS) with managerial information that can help managers in taking decision in the scope of scientific initiation, research and graduate studies. To achieve this objective, the study was conducted using the action-research method, describing the steps from identifying the problem and informational requirements to proposing a solution, which is the proposition of a DW (dimensional model) for the Management of Graduates of IC, and the visualization of information through Dashboards. To identify the requirements, semi-structured interviews, documentary and bibliographical research and direct observation were carried out. Data analysis was qualitative and descriptive. The development of the BI DW was based on Ralph Kimball's methodology, and Power BI software was used to present data in the form of dashboards. The tool was evaluated and validated by CI Managers at IFSULDEMINAS. The results reached achieved the proposed objectives, presenting relevant information for the follow-up of IC graduates. The developed DW dimensional model was able to transform the data into important information, and the developed dashboard report allowed the analysis of the results, demonstrating the impact of CI graduates in the training of human resources for research (masters and doctors), as well as their trajectory professional and academic and social impact. The final database built, in view of its magnitude of dimensions and data, enables new analyzes with the present dimensions, allowing to establish intersections not provided by the direction of the study. As a contribution, in addition to the social/economic (training of human resources for research), practical/personal (development of a BI tool as a solution to the contextualized problem), this research also contributes at the academic/scientific level, as the result will in addition to a new study on BI, it contributes to filling the gap in the literature on BI tools in Graduate Management and studies on BI in public institutions, which contributes to the evolution of the theory.

  • The Public Administration has considered the application of Lean Thinking as a potential approach in order to improve the services provided by it. However, such implementations have encountered some barriers, such as the low level of engagement of the servers, also caused by difficulties in assimilating the approach and visualizing the possible benefits generated with its application. In order to contribute to the fight against this deficiency, this study aimed to develop a game in the format of a Serious Game (game that combines playful aspects and educational objectives) for training in the principles and lean tools of civil servants who work in public administrative environments, using the action-research method . The study had as unit of analysis a group of technical administrative servants from the Federal Institute of Education, Science and Technology of the South of Minas Gerais (IFSULDEMINAS) - Campus Muzambinho, who effectively participated in the development of the game together with the researcher, through experiments, analyzes and successive validations. For the development of the game, the metamodel proposed by Miyashita, Barbosa and Azeredo (2007) was used for the development and evaluation of learning for business games. The action-research was carried out in three cycles, in which the servants answered the IMMS questionnaire (Instructional Materials Motivation Survey), as a way of evaluating the experimentation and validating the suggested and implemented changes. As a final product, the game “A Cidade Enxuta” consists essentially of a board, cards and a book of tips and answers, and the digital files of all components were made available in full for possible replications.

  • The implementation of new strategies in companies must start with the detection of problems that may affect their development. Thus, making improvements in the company's management system can contribute to greater profitability in the execution of its activities, thus allowing greater competitiveness. In this sense, the lack or poor definition of result indicators can cause a lack of synchrony with the objectives, poor monitoring of the area's performance, ineffective evaluations of results and feedback, in addition to slowness and lack of solid basis for decision making. Therefore, this study has the main objective of validating the process of implementing Management by Performance Indicators in one of the largest chains in the pharmaceutical retail sector in Brazil, focused on a Management of the corporate area of the Services Management Board. This research is characterized as applied, qualitative research of the action-research type, which establishes an intervention process, in order to evaluate the implementation of the Management by Indicators model in a network of the pharmaceutical retail branch. The work was carried out during the year 2022. The survey was carried out by the Board's Corporate Governance Management team, with the participation of the Researcher, who had effective participation, together with the team that was studied and who also received the action. Better results were verified in the execution of the activities carried out by the company's management, optimizing them in order to increase the company's revenue and profit, so that not only the company's owners and employees are benefited, but also the customers who enjoy the products and services offered by the company. There was total acceptance of the process by those involved. In view of the realization of this research, the implementation of the Management by Performance Indicators process was carried out in a company in the pharmaceutical retail sector in Brazil.

  • With the rise of an increasingly complex financial market and the availability of new financial products and services to the population, it becomes essential to prepare for making informed decisions regarding this diversity of offerings. However, individuals make financial decisions at a young age, particularly when they decide to enter the job market or institutions of higher education. Therefore, financial education is crucial for the population to learn about the importance of finances in their daily lives and put into practice what they have learned through financial literacy. A significant portion of studies indicate a low level of financial literacy among young university students. Thus, this study aims to assess the level of financial literacy among higher education students at the Federal Institute of Education, Science, and Technology of Southern Minas Gerais (IFSULDEMINAS). To achieve this, a quantitative, descriptive research was conducted using a survey approach, with data collected through a structured questionnaire. Through data analysis, it was identified that 26.70% of students are financially literate, in addition to proving through non – parametric tests that only the variables gender and income (with the level of financial literacy varying from 0 to 6) showed a statistically significant relationship with the level of financial literacy. For financial literacy, considering literate and not-literate, only the gender variable showed a significant difference. And through multinomial logistic regression analysis, the variables gender, financial issues discussed with parents in childhood, taking subjects related to finance in high school, controlling money periodically, percentage of installment purchases in arrears and asking for a discount when purchasing in cash, may be statistically significant in explaining the level of financial literacy. In this way, this work contributed to identifying which topics should be covered in the training course on financial literacy in order to prepare students to better manage their personal finances, in addition to serving as a basis for future research on financial literacy.

  • Process Management is an important tool to increase the efficiency of organizations. Process modeling is one of the most crucial aspects of this approach, through which processes can be graphically represented (diagrammatic modeling), enabling the expansion of knowledge, analysis, and the proposal of improvements. This technique has been widely used in Brazilian public institutions, with many documented benefits such as process optimization, waste reduction, support for decision-making, and proposal of improvements. However, ensuring the quality of models is essential for the modeling efforts to achieve their objectives. One of the most important aspects of the pragmatic quality of models (related to the use of models by organizations) is comprehensibility. An important tool for building more understandable models is the application of modeling guidelines; however, the number of guidelines scattered throughout the literature is high, with some studies reporting up to 50 different guidelines. Additionally, complex processes may require a higher level of detail, which can make the model more difficult to understand. Considering this, this research sought to answer how to model processes with a high level of detail, with the support of modeling guidelines to ensure that the models are understandable to their users. To achieve this, the modeling of a process was carried out considering comprehensibility guidelines found in the scientific literature. The research procedure adopted was Modeling, based on the scheme proposed by Mitroff et al. (1974). The modeled process was the analysis of enrollment requests in higher education courses at a federal institute. To assess compliance with comprehensibility guidelines, the Understandability Verifier for Business Process Models (BEBOP) tool proposed by Corradini et al. (2018) was used. Based on this evaluation, adjustments were made to the model based on recommendations found in the literature. A verification and validation procedure for models called Verification and Validation of Diagrammatic Models (V&V-DM) was also applied. As a result, the research presented an integrative systematic review on the subject, the enrollment process model constructed based on the guidelines, and a report on the procedures adopted for the evaluation and redesign of the model. The integrative review provided an overview of scientific studies on the subject, emphasizing what has already been studied and the existing gaps. The produced models represent the enrollment process comprehensively and enable process management and knowledge transmission at the federal institute. The report on the evaluation and redesign procedure of the model can support other research on the subject and contribute to improving the process modeling of public and private organizations. As a technical product, in addition to the process model, a Best Practices in Modeling Manual was also developed, considering the guidelines found in the literature to provide practical solutions for building more understandable models.

  • The present study analyzed the level of efficiency in the application of budgetary resources by the Academic Units (UA) of the Federal University of Itajubá (UNIFEI) in the period from 2018 to 2022, also considering the possible effects of the pandemic on the results in their teaching, research and extension. For this purpose, the modeling and simulation methodology was used. The tool applied to the study is the Data Envelopment Analysis (DEA), with constant return to scale, and with a financial focus. Variables such as budgetary resources with capital, personnel, consumables; and academic indexes were used in the analysis. The proposed model is based on maximizing academic results from the UA's budget, therefore, the DEA CCR tool's orientation to output was adopted. As a result, the level of efficiency of the ten Academic Units of the Federal University of Itajubá was obtained, and only one of them was considered efficient in all periods and scenarios analyzed. Through analysis and treatment of the selected variables, five scenarios were constructed to verify sensitivity. After finding the benchmark, simulations were performed to define goals for inefficient Academic Units. Analysis of inefficient DMU's revealed that some faced difficulties managing larger budgets, especially during the pandemic, while others demonstrated progress. The comparison of inputs and products through the output-oriented DEA CCR model allowed us to identify best practices and suggest changes to increase efficiency. The results obtained can provide monitoring, as well as raise awareness among managers about the reflection of the financial structure, in addition to representing a way of evaluating university performance replicable to other institutions. Furthermore, the assessment of efficiency in budgetary application makes it possible to identify possible deficiencies and propose improvements in resource allocation processes.

  • This study addresses the relevance of financial literacy in contemporary society, where the wide availability of financial products demands a solid knowledge base for well-informed decision-making. A survey was conducted at IFSULDEMINAS with the purpose of assessing the level of financial literacy among Technical Administrative Education (TAE) servers working in the campuses. Specific objectives included characterizing the socio-economic and demographic profile, evaluating financial behavior, and seeking to associate socio-economic, demographic, and behavioral characteristics with the level of literacy, analyzing the relationship between these variables. Finally, a proposal for a financial literacy course was developed based on the obtained results. The data revealed a profile of the servers, with an average age of 41 years and an equal distribution between genders. The majority completed high school and primary education in public schools, while the education level of parents is limited to incomplete primary education. Regarding income, both family and individual averages fall within the range of 4 to 8 minimum wages. It was noted that a significant portion of the servers did not have access to financial disciplines during higher education. With regard to financial behavior, it was observed that the majority allocate more than 50% of their income to installment purchases, with a preference for credit card payments. Surprisingly, most do not have a history of overdue bills, demonstrating discipline in financial management. Contributions to the official pension plan are regular, although most do not invest in complementary pensions, suggesting a lack of financial preparation for retirement. Half of the servers adopt the habit of setting aside money for contingencies, while the other half does not follow this practice. The majority also opt to purchase insurance as a financial protection measure. The financial literacy survey included six crucial questions, revealing that 65.79% of the servers are considered financially literate. The results indicated that only gender and a background in finance during higher education demonstrated a significant association with the financial literacy of the servers. This finding demonstrates the importance of policies for women and the inclusion of financial education subjects in the educational curriculum.

  • The present work aims to identify how the Quintuple Helix can be boosted by innovation policies within the scope of the Federal Institute of Education, Science and Technology of the South of Minas Gerais (IFSULDEMINAS) through sustainability actions. The research had a qualitative approach, using the case study method. Remote interviews were carried out with managers involved in IFSULDEMINAS innovation policies, and data was subsequently obtained through thematic content and frequency analysis. The Quintuple Helix highlights the role of the natural environment in society and the economy in promoting advances in production processes, knowledge and innovation. Incubators, technological innovation centers, industrial innovation hubs and junior companies are recognized as part of these innovation policies. IFSULDEMINAS' innovation policies play an important role in disseminating the Quintuple Helix through sustainability actions, such as IF Solar; IF River; Citizen selective collection; Collection of electronic waste, collection of pesticide packaging, among others. These actions promote the economic, social and environmental development of the region, covering aspects such as education, entrepreneurship and partnerships. Benefits include recognition, dissemination of knowledge, economic benefits, appropriate waste disposal and engagement of students and teachers. However, there are challenges that require cultural change, investment in structure and greater involvement of society. In order to overcome them, interaction with society is crucial, as is the dissemination and recognition of IFSULDEMINAS' actions. The research contributed to understanding the role of the university as a driver and promoter of the Quintuple Helix, systematizing its sustainability actions, and highlighting a representative model of the context, in which the university propeller positions itself as a promoter of sustainable practices for the other propellers.

  • With the regulation of access to information in Brazil, through the Access to Information
Law (LAI), procedures were established for transparency in public administration, as a
way of ensuring the fundamental rights of citizens. In addition to federal legislation, the
Brazilian Accounting Standard presents the preparation of accounting reports as
mandatory. Organizations, especially those of a public nature, still have a lack of
working with data, as well as transforming it into information and reports. One of the
ways to obtain better quality information is to seek new technologies and methods
through Information Systems. Business Intelligence (BI) systems are one of the means
that use software tools and contribute to the organization, analysis and dissemination
of data, resulting in various products and reports that facilitate decision making. In this
context, this work aims to develop a model to aid decision-making based on Business
Intelligence, in order to produce a tool to provide accounting reports that help
managers and are available for broad consultation. The research methodology used
was CRISP-DM, which stands out for being applied to business objectives,
establishing a structure for data mining projects and guiding their execution. The result
was applied to the Accounting and Finance Directorate of the Federal University of
Itajubá, covering information relating to the institution's budgetary and financial
execution, with a view to assisting in decision-making by managers in addition to
meeting transparency requirements through the publication of reports on the

  • The academic environment as well as any organization also has a multitude of data that, through Business Intelligence (BI), can add knowledge and assist the management. BI technology is seen, both from a global and national perspective, as organizational ambidexterity for public administration. This research aims to use along with the CRISP-DM to guide Knowledge Discovery on data from the academic scenario from Muzambinho campus, in the hope of monitoring the composition of Academic Efficiency indexes of each enrollment cycle of courses under the management of the Education Directorate. The academic indicators are statistical values that attribute quality to teaching and reveal the management of public investment to society. In the academical cicle, depending on the goal and data analysis, four indicators can be extracted as Conclusion, Retention, Dropout and Academic Efficiency. However, only the Academic Efficiency will be addressed for being considered the most comprehensive in relation to the goals and objectives established for the Institutes of the Federal Professional Education Network. The research is applied, exploratory, descriptive, quanti / qualitative using technical procedures of bibliometric analysis, CRISP-DM, bibliographic and documentary research. CRISP-DM is consolidated as a good practice for the context of educational data mining. For this proposal, the Muzambinho campus was chosen as a pilot project because it has the largest number of courses offered within IFSULDEMINAS. Besides, it is also the campus of the author of this research. It is important to highlight the conception of the Descriptive Model of Academic Efficiency with the pedagogical, permanence and success dimensions and additional aspects along with the variables involved. Furthermore, its implementation/visualization through a partial indicator panel allows preventive and/or mitigating actions as a strategy before consolidating the coefficient. Such fact enables better results, monitoring of the academic process, organizational sustainability and the effectiveness of this unit in terms of confirmed public value.

  • Integrated Marketing Communication (IMC) and Marketing Innovation (MI) are two topics of interest to the organization and academia. However, a survey of the literature suggests that IMC and MI are fragmented and distant from each other in the academic production of Business Administration, with few articles that explore their relationships, interfaces and connections. Why explore IMC and IM, in an integrated way, in the Higher Education Institution (HEI)? Firstly, due to the gaps in existing knowledge; secondly, to broaden the understanding of the relationships between the two constructs outside the business context, where investigations are concentrated; lastly, because HEIs face a challenging scenario. Fierce competition requires decisions and strategies that are related to the fields of marketing and innovation for the HEI to differentiate itself in the market, attract new students and retain current ones. The general objective of this research is to understand how IMC is able to foster and trigger MI in HEI. To this end, a conceptual and detailed scheme, developed from the relationships, interfaces and connections identified between IMC and MI in the literature, was proposed and applied in the Instituto Federal de Educação, Ciência e Tecnologia do Sul de Minas Gerais (IFSULDEMINAS), where this exploratory case study was conducted. This research is justified by the theoretical, practical and social contributions it aims to provide. As for the theoretical justification, the study seeks to fill the gaps in the literature exposed. The practical justification is related to the absence of methodologies available to HEIs that encourage innovation, particularly MI, from processes such as IMC. The availability of the proposed conceptual and detailed scheme, and how to operationalize it, aims to fill this gap. Finally, from the discussion on the use of the field of marketing and innovation as possible instruments for the HEI to be able to identify and interact with its stakeholders and to reach out, even to the most vulnerable, the free opportunities it offers (in the case of the public HEI), the social justification of this research can be glimpsed. Based on the results found in this study, supported by the descriptive and qualitative analysis of the data, it was concluded that the IMC was able to foster and trigger MI in the HEI investigated, whether through the product/design, place, promotion or strategy and that the conceptual and detailed scheme proposed was able to demonstrate how this process occurs. The study had limitations, the main one being that it did not include the Price dimension of MI during the operationalization of the conceptual and detailed scheme, as the research was carried out in a public HEI. Therefore, it is recommended, as a future agenda, to apply the proposed scheme, with the five dimensions of MI identified in the literature, to apply the scheme in a private higher education organization, to see how it behaves and how IMC fosters and triggers MI in this other context.

  • The IF Mais Empreendedor Program 2021 is an extension program created by the Federal Institute of Education, Science, and Technology of Southern Minas Gerais (IFSULDEMINAS), which was carried out with the support of the Scientific and Technological Education Secretariat (SETEC) of the Ministry of Education (MEC). It involved 39 institutions from the Federal Education Network of Brazil, serving a total of 1025 micro and small enterprises in the country. This study aimed to identify and analyze the main thematic factors present in the Program's report with the intention of contributing to the evaluation of extension programs that develop entrepreneurship activities in micro and small businesses. It is a qualitative and empirical research that used the case study as a methodological procedure and was conducted in a cross-sectional manner, admitting for analysis a sample of Final Reports prepared by the teams that participated in this Program. The analysis of these reports showed that numerous actions were developed by the teams responsible for the projects with the participating Micro and Small Enterprises (MSEs), aiming to support them in remaining competitive in the market. The identified analysis factors were: communication, management, physical arrangement and logistics, and information technology. Thus, this study enables affirming that when evaluating an extension program involving entrepreneurship activities in MSEs, it is possible to consider, in the scope of the communication developed by these companies, actions such as social media marketing, creation of professional profiles, and the use of apps for online sales and customer interaction. Regarding management, it is possible to evaluate the qualification of employees and entrepreneurs themselves, selection processes, implementation of financial and budgetary control, working capital, establishment of partnerships, and relationship with suppliers. Concerning physical arrangements and logistics, it is possible to evaluate the organization and control of the enterprises' inventories, planning and management of logistics-related costs, improvements, and adaptations in the company's physical facilities. Regarding information technology, it is possible to assess the implementation and use of systems that assist in the necessary controls in MSEs, business management, innovation of products and services, and expansion of organizational boundaries. These factors enable understanding, both by the team responsible for the extension program and by micro and small entrepreneurs, of elements inherent in the permanence of MSEs in the competitive market and in constant transformations. Furthermore, this study allowed learning about the participation of students in this type of program in an integration of educational institutions with communities, aiming to find solutions to local reality problems. It can be affirmed that, in addition to expanding their studies on entrepreneurship, students were able to develop skills such as teamwork, planning actions, and developing a sense of responsibility and commitment necessary in personal and professional life.

  • Increased environmental awareness and interest in diversifying energy sources, together with the growing global demand for electricity, are stimulating the production of renewable energy, including solar photovoltaics. In Brazil, photovoltaic solar energy has stood out because it is driven by the excellent levels of solar radiation in most of the country. At this juncture, photovoltaic generation systems are the most widely used renewable sources to mitigate the financial costs of energy consumption through distributed generation. The aim of this work is therefore to assess the financial impact on IFSULDEMINAS' annual budgets of the acquisition and installation of photovoltaic plants under RDC 03/2018. The work was carried out in three stages. In the first stage, data related to the aforementioned tender was collected, covering the amount invested, the solar resource, the energy tariff and the other technical specificities at each of the installation sites. In the second stage, a financial viability analysis was carried out by structuring the cash flow of each photovoltaic project installed, specifically calculating the NPV, VA and IRR indicators. In the third stage, the VA obtained on each campus, calculated in the previous stage, is compared with the average annual budget of the respective campus, in order to assess the impact on the institution's budget. The main results show that most of the solar photovoltaic projects installed are viable from a technical-financial and legal perspective, reducing the institutions' costs and thus having a positive impact on the costing budget. However, it was observed that the financial viability of solar projects is strongly influenced by the tariff charged at the installation site. In conclusion, the results obtained can be used to help public managers make decisions in order to promote budgetary and energy efficiency and the sustainability actions practiced by these institutions.

  • Women's entrepreneurship, in constant ascent, faces specific challenges related to gender social constructions. Women are often subjected to roles traditionally linked to the domestic sphere, resulting in situations of submission. In challenging these norms, women encounter barriers in the professional environment related to the historical division of labor by gender. They juggle the overload of domestic and professional responsibilities, with the labor market failing to recognize the unique challenges faced by women. In search of flexibility and proximity to their homes, women turn to women's entrepreneurship. Entrepreneurship, however, is typically associated with masculinity. In this environment of resource scarcity and uncertainties, women still embark on entrepreneurial endeavors. These challenges seem to have similarities with the principles of Effectuation logic by Saras Sarasvathy, which advocates entrepreneurship with available resources, acceptable losses, strategic alliances, and contingency control. In this context, the research aims to understand if the trajectories of women entrepreneurs in Pouso Alegre reflect the logic proposed by Effectuation. The established objectives were: a) analyze the entrepreneurial profile of women involved in the research, highlighting their previous experiences, motivations, and challenges faced; b) identify and describe the Effectuation practices adopted by women entrepreneurs throughout their trajectories, relating them to the decision-making process and resource management; c) Evaluate the impact of Effectuation practices on the innovation and adaptation strategies used by women entrepreneurs in challenging scenarios; d) investigate the support and collaboration networks established by women entrepreneurs throughout their trajectories, examining how these networks contribute to the growth and sustainability of their businesses; and e) analyze the barriers and obstacles faced by women entrepreneurs and how their Effectuation practices can influence overcoming these challenges. To achieve this, theoretical foundations were sought regarding women's entrepreneurship, the Effectuation method, and entrepreneurship networks. This is a descriptive research with a dialectical method and a qualitative approach. Data were obtained through field studies using a semi-structured interview script. The main results revealed the existence of gender bias in entrepreneurship, the difficulty in identifying it, the intuitive application of the Effectual logic predominantly but coexisting with Causal logic, and the relevance of joining entrepreneurship networks for the strengthening of women's entrepreneurship. The results shed light on the daily reality of women in entrepreneurship, which does not always provide space for planning and goal-setting, and also on the means to strengthen women's entrepreneurship, both individually and collectively.

  • Financial literacy, referred to as an area of knowledge, as a process, or even as a tool, has, as its purpose, to help the individual in the management of his or her financial capital. Whenever it is about consumption choices, investment or prevention for uncertain situations. The present study evaluated the association between personality factors of the population studied and their knowledge and financial behavior. The theoretical framework carried out a survey about the studies on financial education in Brazil and in other countries. In addition, the studies on personality factors were treated, as well as those that correlate the theme with financial literacy. This is a descriptive and applied study, with a quantitative method. For the collection of information, survey research was used, with the survey of information about individuals and their social aspects. The index of financial knowledge found was considered low among the respondents. Statistical tests were carried out and showed positive associations between the respondent's gender and the financial education index, and between the fact of talking to parents about money and the financial education index. Furthermore, associations between this index and other socioeconomic factors were analyzed. The results also pointed to the absence of significant associations between financial knowledge and socioeconomic characteristics.

  • The Technology Readiness Levels (TRL) methodology, originated within the aerospace sector, has been used in highly complex technological projects, mainly in contexts where the domain of technology is still incipient. It has technological level scales ranging from 1 to 9, where the lowest levels are linked to basic technology research and the highest levels are linked to the development of systems and subsystems, with a view to launching the product or technology. Thus, this research aimed to analyze the implementation of the TRL methodology to assess the level of technological maturity of the various stages that make up an innovative Research and Development (R&D) project based on its application in a company in the industrial automation area. The research method adopted to obtain the intended results was the Action-Research, which sought to identify the TRLs of each subset evaluated of a technological development project of an industrial ultrasonic sensor from two iterative cycles. The tool needed to assess technological maturity levels was an IMATEC calculator. One of the reasons for selecting this calculator was because it is available for general use, being accessed on the website of the Brazilian Space Agency (AEB), linked to the Brazilian federal government. As results obtained from both iterative cycles, we have (a) obtaining the levels of technological readiness in each of the stages under analysis and its evolution within the time window studied; (b) what are the technologies that make up the development of an industrial ultrasonic sensor. The analyzes made it possible to validate the proposed study through the application and verification of the results in a real R&D project. Thus, the presentation of possibilities for new applications for the TRL methodology and the proposal of a new process integrated to the management methodology of the company object of study from the implementation of the TRL, which can be extrapolated to other projects, are important contributions of this research.

  • The main objective of this master's dissertation was to develop and evaluate the performance of automated systems of trading strategies elaborated from technical analysis rules, based on indicators, applied to futures exchange rate of reais per commercial dollar, traded on B3. With the advent of the deployment of electronic trading and the creation of increasingly technological platforms, there has been an increase in the number of participants in the Brazilian derivatives market. However, most investor investors do not have substantial knowledge to carry out transactions or apply knowledge from technical analysis that has not been tested and scientifically validated. In association, there is a lack of in-depth scientific studies, analysis that support investors in obtaining information and applying knowledge about the derivatives market. In this context, based on technical analysis rules, based on indicators, strategies were elaborated, automating them in trading systems, with the objective of producing knowledge that could help investors in obtaining information for application in the market regarding this product. After measuring and comparing the performance of the developed trading systems, and comparing the data in risk/return tables, to the yield of risk-free financial investments such as fixed income and a stock portfolio assembled, using the Markowitz criterion, he concluded It was found that operating with the objective of acquiring or “purchasing” exchange rate futures of reais per commercial dollar in downtrend markets, presented itself in terms of more atractive income and with probabilities of obtaining greater profits than the other investment options presented it the study, both in operations called Intraday or Day Trade, and in Swing Trade operations for the period studied.

  • Lean Manufacturing focuses on eliminating waste by improving its processes, however, waste is not just concentrated production processes, but also on administrative activities. The adaptation and application of lean concepts in administrative environments is called Lean Office and favors companies to become more organized and competitive. However, it still presents complexities to predict the results of changes. In this sense, the simulation can be used to facilitate the analysis of impacts in advance, allowing the visualization of changes in processes without changing reality. In this context, this work proposes the use of simulation in an integrated way with lean concepts, through the Value Stream Mapping, to evaluate in advance the results expected by the proposal of implementing lean concepts in administrative environments, analyzing the impact of document replacement by fingerprints on an object of study. This, is characterized as an administrative environment of a Federal Institution of Higher Education (IFES), which performs financial and accounting activities and was chosen for presenting difficulties in meeting its demand. In order to identify in the works already published, with regard to the adaptation and application of lean concepts in administrative environments, results achieved, difficulties identified and solutions implemented, as well as whether the Discrete Events Simulation has been used to reduce resistance of people to the implementation of lean concepts in these environments a Systematic Literature Review was conducted. The results achieved showed not only a reduction in the average lead time from the current state to the simulated future state, but also a significant gain in capacity. The average lead time in the current state, which was above 270.000 seconds, or 75 effective hours of work, was reduced in the future state to somewhere around 180.000 seconds, or 50 effective hours of work. That is, a reduction of 33.33%. The amount of notes paid, which was a maximum of 145 per month, according to actual data from the current state, was increased in the future state to above 320. That is, an increase above 120%.

  • The Business Intelligence (BI) environment, when developed and implemented,
allows, in a simple way, to gather, organize, store, analyze and facilitate the discovery of
relationships and information with data from different sources, gathered by companies
throughout their history. Decision making becomes challenging and complex, regardless of
level or scale. In most companies there is a large volume of operational level data, especially in the areas of planning and control of production and inventories covering various systems and spreadsheets. This dissertation aims to know methods for the development of a data warehouse (DW), the process of extracting, transforming and loading data (ETL) and graphical dashboards (BI) and researching the challenges and results obtained by the new work published. In addition, develop and implement the BI environment following an actionresearch methodology to apply the knowledge obtained for the projection and control of stocks in a multinational company of advanced energy solutions. With the implementation of this BI environment, a positive evolution for inventory management was proven through the updating of purchase parameters, the increase went from 8% to 82% in one year, resulting in significant savings in terms of inventory reduction and increase turnover and cash flow. First, it is expected to increase the amount of data by expanding to other production lines in the company to have the same BI environment, optimizing the time to obtain information for decision-making in inventory management with a focus on reducing high levels and having the availability of information in an increasingly simple way, through graphical panels on dashboards. Finally, share the tool with other company plants in Brazil and around the world.

  • This research aims to structure the management of apiaries based on an information system, which allows for better planning and support for decision making by the manager in the management practices of the Federal Institute of Minas Gerais Bambuí campus. The performance of the hive management activity effectively reduces factors that directly affect production, such as diseases, swarming, food shortages, among others. Production excellence is guaranteed through good management and the beekeeper needs to control information about each hive, such as origin, genetics and age of the queen, since these details are important to evaluate the quality and efficiency in the production of honey and honey. propolis. The Apiculture sector of the Federal Institute of Minas Gerais (IFMG) Bambuí campus, lacks instruments that facilitate management of the managements and assist in decision making, this lack ends up resulting in a less efficient management of the production process. The construction of this research is based on the Design Science Research methodology, consisting of four phases: Phase 1 - Problem, problem identification; Phase 2 - Solution, construction of the design models; Phase 3 - Development, construction of the artifact; Phase - 4 Evaluation, feasibility and utility analysis of the artifact. In the development, a prototype of an information system for the management of this institution's management is presented. The functionalities: activity schedule, management history, event records and production reports per hive, are resources that proved to be suitable as management tools. The planning and implementation process was built with reference to interviews with the manager of the beekeeping laboratory at IFMG-Bambuí, in order to analyze and propose the necessary elements for the construction of the design.

  • Business processes are assets present in both private and public organizations to generate goods or provide services. Currently, there is a demand from taxpayers to improve public services, requiring greater attention to social policies, such as the National Student Assistance Policy (PNAES), an initiative aimed at implementing actions for the permanence of students in institutions of higher education. Despite its effectiveness, studies point to the need for student assistance actions to be provided more efficiently. Public bodies can efficiently offer services to society by dealing with failures present in business processes. Regarding failure analysis, the literature highlights the FTA and FMEA techniques, but also addresses the need to understand the process and then use them. However, the literature also discusses that all process analysis and design must consider business rules, since their logic is used in decision making, which influence the behavior of the business process. The main objective of this study is to analyze failures of two business processes, using FTA and FMEA techniques, from models built using BPMN and DMN notations. The analysis of process logic (recorded by BPMN) and decision logic (recorded by DMN) allowed the identification of potential failures, as well as their causes and effects in the modeled process logic, through the combined application of FTA and FMEA techniques. This applied research has a descriptive and exploratory character, a qualitative approach and the research method used is modeling. We selected as study objects the student care processes performed by the dental and nutritional services of the Student Affairs Coordination of the Minas Gerais Federal Institute - Campus Bambuí. Through semi-structured interviews, the process and decision models were built, and then validated with the dentist and nutritionist. Subsequently, both the researcher and the participants identified failures from the BPMN and DMN models, which were submitted to the FTA and FMEA techniques. The fault trees supported the failure modes and their causes in the FMEA spreadsheets, and from these, a detailing of each identified failure was carried out, as well as a survey of corrective/preventive action proposals aimed at eliminating or at least minimizing the occurrences of the causes that lead to these failures. In addition to expanding knowledge about the business process, the DMN technique allowed for the identification of flaws that would not be visible only with the view of the BPMN model. Although the FMEA provides a more in-depth analysis of the failure in relation to the FTA and an ordering for prioritizing the proposed actions, the logical view of the failure tree allows the assessment of failures with greater occurrence sensitivity and those that depend on the simultaneous occurrence to occur. As a final product, a combined method aimed at improving business processes through failure analysis was obtained.

  • Lean Manufacturing, an approach that emerged in Japan as a Toyota Production System, seeks to increase productivity and quality, while reducing waste, and is being increasingly applied in administrative environments. However, this application still faces difficulties, either due to its limited knowledge, or due to the difficulty in visualizing the expected results. In order to minimize these difficulties and increase the chances of success in the implementation, an increasingly used technique is computer simulation, since the expected results for the real system can be previously visualized in the virtual system. In this context, the general objective of this work is to employ the Modeling and Simulation method, through the Discrete Events Simulation (DES) in the evaluation of the results expected by the proposal of implementing lean thinking in the administrative environments of a Federal Institution of Higher Education (FIHE), more precisely, in the Management of School Records of Technical Courses and High School of IFMG, Campus Bambuí. The specific objective is to develop a Systematic Literature Review (SLR) to understand how lean thinking has been applied in administrative environments, particularly in those audiences, highlighting the contributions and difficulties pointed out by the existing literature, as well as the way in which the Simulation Discrete Events comes and can be used to leverage contributions and minimize the difficulties of implementing these concepts in these environments. The Value Stream Mapping was integrated with the Simulation steps, where the current and future value stream maps of the selected service families were modeled and simulated, obtaining as a result, through the elimination of waste, a reduction in Leads Times from the families mapped 93.5%, 47.4% and 59.6%, comparing simulated current and future states, and 92.8%, 45.0% and 61.0%, comparing current and future states drawn. First, such sets of values prove the significant reductions. Second, they also prove the coherence between the drawn maps, which are static and deterministic, and the simulated ones, which are dynamic and stochastic. With the general objective restricted to the use of Discrete Events Simulation to evaluate in advance the results expected by the proposed implementation of lean thinking to the object of study, the effective application of these concepts and their tools remains a natural proposal for future work.

  • Given the competitiveness of the dairy sector and the difficulties faced by small dairies, good management is essential, including an adequate production mix programming so that they remain competitive in the market. Therefore, the objective of this study is to guarantee the best production mix of the brand Sabores do IFMG dairy products, produced at the Laboratório de Processamento de Leite (LPL) of the Instituto Federal de Educação, Ciência e Tecnologia de Minas Gerais (IFMG) – Campus Bambuí, to optimize resources and maximizing the total contribution margin. Linear Programming was used with the aid of the Excel Solver® supplement. Initially, a data survey was carried out through documentary and bibliographic research, followed by questionnaire, intensive direct observation and interview. The costs and contribution margin of each product were calculated, as well as the parameters of availability of raw material and labor. Then, we carried out an analysis of the current scenario, and the mathematical optimization model was defined, considering the contribution margin of each product and the restrictions inherent to manufacturing. The model was subjected to simulations with scenario changes, to verify the system's behavior. Under current conditions, it was found that the sector has a total contribution margin of R$ 10,484.82 and a loss of -R$ 3,994.95. Therefore, new scenarios were simulated in order to optimize production, and it was observed that with the use of new restrictions and information, it was possible to obtain a total contribution margin and profit of up to R$ 46,493.30 and R$ 32,013.53, respectively. This research proved to be useful in the survey of managerial data and analysis, supporting the production planning, as well as the suggestion of marketing, sales and management strategies, aiming to increase the laboratory's profit. Furthermore, the model opens up a range of possibilities for improving decision making aiming at better results in management process.

The objective was to measure and correlate the Financial Knowledge Index (ICF) to socioeconomic and demographic variables through statistical tests. The level of financial knowledge of university students on scholarships was measured, resulting in a lower median for students with a lower family income and a higher median for those with a family income between two and four minimum wages. Remembering that the scholarship holders of the Permanence Scholarship Program in general come from families in a situation of social vulnerability.

  • Financial education is a topic of great relevance, mainly due to economic crises and their consequences that impact personal and family life. This work aims to research was to propose a training program in financial education, appropriate to the profile of Technical and Administrative Education workers (TAE) at the Federal Institute of Education, Science and Technology (IFMG) - Campus Bambuí. In this sense, a survey was conducted with these public workers, using a questionnaire as a data collection instrument. The workers were characterized regarding their sociodemographic, socioeconomic, financial knowledge and financial behavior profiles, as well as the identification of the level of financial education and its association with factors of the identified profiles. From the analyzes carried out, it was observed that most of the respondents fit the following profile: from 25 to 49 years of age, white and mixed race/ethnicity, with a high educational level (specialists and master's degrees). In general, they spend less than they earn, control money, buy installments frequently, and have part of their income committed to pay for purchases in installments. The analysis of the level of financial education placed the respondents at a low level, indicating the need for training actions. Financial literacy level was also found to be associated with dealing with money-related issues with parents, with learning in high school, and with periodic monitoring of money. Considering the information obtained, a proposal for a training action program appropriate to the reality of the profile presented was prepared, in line with the general objective of this research. The proposal was presented to the directors of IFMG - Campus Bambuí, who issued a favorable opinion.

  • In the current context of modernization and innovation, companies have increasingly resorted to process improvements and new Information and Communication Technologies (ICT's) to achieve greater operational, tactical and strategic efficiency. In the public sphere, government agencies, companies and public institutions have sought to apply new forms of management, new technologies, systems and work methods, seeking greater effectiveness of public resources applied in government programs, administrative routines and services offered to citizens. Although it is one of the most relevant areas in universities, as it is responsible for essential points such as enrollment and graduation, the Academic Registration area is still little explored as an object of research in management. The objective of this work is to describe and analyze the applicability and relevance of the BPMN notation for the management of Academic Registration processes at the Federal University of Itajubá (UNIFEI). The specific objectives are: identification of points for enhancement and possible improvements in the processes of the UNIFEI Undergraduate Academic Registry; graphic representation (maps) of the Academic Registry processes (before and after improvements). As an applied research, the work was conducted by the action research method, with a view to intervening in the object of study in a cooperative way, to solve problems and contribute to the knowledge base. The results delivered were the maps of the 03 processes, as diagnosed before the implemented improvements (1st action research cycle), and after the implemented improvements (2nd action research cycle). Administrative proceedings for suspension of the undergraduate course (suspending the academic semester); termination of the undergraduate course (cancellation of enrollment) and completion of an extraordinary degree were chosen due to the high volume of demand for these services, and the possibility of immediate applicability of the improvements. The noticeable repercussions for the sector's routine were: elimination of waiting lines to meet demands; better fluid flow of information; greater efficiency, transparency, manageability and integration with other sectors involved in the processes; perception of greater constancy and continuity in the administrative routine of the sectors involved with the improved processes.

  • In increasingly technological and dynamic context, entrepreneurship has been the object of interest for many researchers because it is directly associated with innovation. This phenomenon occurs at the individual, behavioral and organizational level, with universities standing out as agents for promoting change and economic development. Classic authors such as Schumpeter, Filion and Alan Gibb stress the importance of creative disruption, entrepreneurial skills and capturing opportunities. Clark and Etzkowitz's classic models deal with the revolutions of Entrepreneurial Universities (EUs), their role in the context in which they are inserted and in the strong performance of management. Entrepreneurial Orientation (EO) appears as a possible lens to analyze organizational entrepreneurial performance through dimensions, from the perspective of Lumpkin and Dess and Todorovic. However, studies that connect these two constructs - EU and EO - are scarce. From this scenario, it is questioned which conceptual tool, based on the interface between EU and EO, would be able to facilitate the understanding of entrepreneurial activities in a Brazilian higher education institution. Therefore, the general objective of this study is to propose a conceptual scheme that integrates EU and EO and is able to facilitate the understanding of entrepreneurial activities within the scope of the Federal Institute of Education, Science and Technology of Minas Gerais (IFMG) - Campus Bambuí. Aim to answering the listed basic question, as well as reaching the proposed general objective, the present study was based on applied research, with an exploratory character and on a qualitative approach to the problem. The technical procedure adopted was the case study, with a questionnaire applied to the institution's managers. An empirical survey of campus and context data - secondary data - was carried out to anchor a qualitative analysis with the primary data obtained from the operationalization of the conceptual scheme. The results achieved were the conceptual and instrumental schemes anchored in EU and EO, its operationalization on campus and, finally, the verification in relation to this scheme being able to analyze the entrepreneurial campus’s activities from the perspective of these constructs. These results demonstrate innovative contributions - conceptual and instrumental schemes - integrating the main concepts of EU and EO and their operationalization in any public or private educational institution, as well as the expansion of debates on entrepreneurship in educational spheres, especially in Brazilian Federal Institutes. Among the practical implications of this study, the proposed tool is cited, which can help managers in the monitoring functions of entrepreneurial activities, stimulate reflections on EU and OE in institutions, elevating them to the level of an entrepreneurial institution and, finally expand scientific debates nationally and internationally, thus strengthening the entrepreneurial culture. In the field of limitations, this research carried out a single case study, which limits the generalization of the results and the suggestion to expand the research with other servers on the campus, including students, in surveys with open questions that allow more complete analyzes about the entrepreneurial activities of IFMG - Campus Bambuí.

  • The information quality is an important pillar for the work between companies and customers to be assertive. The correct registration of customers is essential for procedural sales and logistics problems to be minimized. A registration error can cause non-sale of products to problems at logistical and fiscal levels. The study has the objective to improve the information quality in the process of changing the registration of customers in a beverage industry company. In view of the need to carry out an applied research, made use of a method focused on improving the quality of information (TDQM - Total Data Quality Management). The research will provide the review and change of existing processes pointing to the opportunity for improvements throughout the work focused on the quality of information. For greater interaction with the theme and to know more about it, a literature review on information quality and cases of practical application of the theme were verified. As a result of the work, there was the creation of new processes of data collection and management, creation of metrics and identification of the dimensions of quality information that most adhered to the work (temporality, relevance, reputation and data quality). The work also presents suggestions for improvement and applied them in the target company of the study. The study demonstrates that the quality of the company's information improves by 59.1% comparing the information quality index before and after the application of the TDQM. It is also noteworthy that there is no single way to use the dimensions of information and that the context and the needs of the moment are decisive for choosing one dimension or another.

  • The Brazilian Public Administration is responsible for developing improvements in its accountability processes, in other words, in procedures related to the transparency of government practices and the duty to account for the use of its resources, with a view to promoting management efficiency. In such context, there is a need for cost disclosure in the Brazilian public sector, mainly due to the contrast between the public scarcity of resources, against the basic need to maintain the “machine”, and the search for new investments. Federal legislation makes the calculation of costs in Public Accounting mandatory, and, in consequence, the federal government and its respective control agencies have demanded their disclosure among other entities. Considering these legal and governmental impositions, as well as the difficulties of implementing a systematic calculation of costs by Federal Institutions of Higher Education (IFES), this paper aims to analyze the process of implementing this structure at the Federal University of Itajubá (UNIFEI), based on the flow of procedures developed by the National Treasury Secretariat (STN), having as a preponderant factor the effective use of the Federal Government Cost Information System (SIC). The action research was the research method adopted, since the study consisted of the application of practice, together with theoretical investigation, to solve a specific problem, in addition to having been able to correlate the phases of this method with the steps of the SIC implementation flow proposed by the STN. Therefore, after all the analysis carried out during the SIC implementation process at UNIFEI, verifying its strengths, difficulties, actions performed, and recommendations for improvement, an implementation flow was proposed with the steps identified as essential for the effective implementation in a Ifes, through the comparative examination between the best practices of different authors and the STN model. Finally, we concluded that the data provided during all phases of the process, as well as those obtained through the SIC, resulting from the costing methodology adopted, were able to generate useful information capable of being used in the future in the system management phase in order to collaborate in the measurement and disclosure of costs, as well as in support of decision-making by managers. We hope that this work has contributed to the debate in the area of costs in public service, presenting options and solutions regarding the real difficulties for the effective implementation of a system for calculating costs in Brazilian Ifes.'

  • An efficient management of the pharmaceutical assistance service contributes to the promotion of the rational use of medicines, bringing countless benefits to users of the Unified Health System. In pursuit of this efficiency, it is necessary to access reliable information in a timely manner, so that decision-making takes place based on knowledge, with speed and quality. The purpose of this research was the use of Business Intelligence, through one of its analysis tool, OLAP, to enable the contextualization of data and the presentation of cause and effect relationships through the development of a computational tool, allowing the improvement of operational, tactical and strategic decision-making in the pharmaceutical assistance service in a municipality in the south of Minas Gerais. The action research methodology was used with data collected from documental research instruments, interview, questionnaire and observation. The analyzes performed were related to the selected health units, the medication under study dispensed, the profile of the patients and the main prescribers. Finally, an action plan was carried out for each analysis performed and a dashboard was created, with the objective of facilitating the generation of knowledge in an intuitive way. As a result, a tool was obtained, which can be replicated to other lists of drugs, areas and periods to provide cause-and-effect relationships, allowing the targeting of actions to groups of patients, professionals and population areas in order to maintain regularity supply of medicines and promote their rational use.

It seeks to identify the intangible capitals in the production of Canastra artisancheese in the municipalities of Medeiros and São Roque de Minas. It is a research approach is quantitative-qualitative, since it brings quantifiable data in the adapted questionnaire and at the same time complements these data measuring opinions obtained in the interviews and method used was a case study with a form structured in the format of Likert Scale of 5 points adapted from the World Bank and interviews applied to cheese producers, traders from the municipalities of Medeiros and São Roque de Minas, and to public and private institutions directly or not involved in the production of artisanal cheese observing the cooperation, trust and other characteristics of intangible capital present in the local community of the two municipalities. Data analysis showed a dispersion of the nine intangible capitals mentioned by Boisier in the municipalities studied without an integrative agent in them, establishing the understanding that the articulation of the capitals found did not establish a synergy to boost the development of the region.

  • In carrying out its activities aimed at satisfying the public interest, the Public Administration contracts the private sector to acquire property and provide services. For this, the bidding processes are carried out and the Electronic Auction is one of the bidding modalities according to the law. At IFMG-Campus Bambuí, the Electronic Auction is one of the main and most complex forms of hiring used. This process is quite segmented, with different actors, systems, and currently, the Campus does not have formal details regarding the flow of activities, steps and documents, with an integral approach to the process, which becomes vulnerable execution and subject to failures related to non-observance or steps disregarded, dependence on the servers involved, delays and rework. This work aims to carry out the modeling of the Electronic Trading Process performed by the IFMG-Campus Bambuí, through the Business Process Model and Notation (BPMN), to identify all activities, public servants, steps, sectors involved and information systems used. The specific objectives are the creation of a theoretical model with a textual description of the whole process to support the modeling via BPMN; identify errors, delays conflicts and factors that hinder or delay its progress, as well as pointing out possible changes for improvement and even the validation use of Business Process Modeling in public institutions. This is descriptive research, applied nature, whose approach is qualitative, carried out through action research with the division of the Electronic Auction Process into three phases: Initial, Intermediate and Final, which correspond to three Cycles of Action Research. As a result, three models were built in the Bizagi system that, in sequence, portray the entire Electronic Trading Process in its current state (As Is) with all its particularities duly represented by the elements of the BPMN. The critical factors and possible improvements were included in the models created that were approved by the sector responsible for Campus Electronic Auction’ processes. A comparison was also made between the works used as a theoretical basis and the notes made in the research, confirming the application of Management and Business Process Modeling in public institutions, highlighting the use of BPMN for the construction’s models related to others purchasing processes and also in other institution’s sectors.

  • Currently, the process of demand for solutions with (positive) socio-environmental
impact is a recurring subject in governmental, business, academic debates and,
where many projects that seek to achieve socio-environmental development have
been elaborated and implemented by various segments of society in an attempt to
minimize the socio-environmental problems and promote positive changes in society.
In this sense, in the south of the state of Minas Gerais, there are several institutions
that request, in a way, that they can contribute to minimizing socio-environmental
problems. Among these institutions there is a financial institution that supports the
proposals of partner entities that support and promote the problems with the
purposes of the institution and focused on the fight against the existing institutions.
However, carrying out the selection of viable proposals that meet specific objectives
that do not aim to positively impact society is an easy task. Therefore, the work aims
to analyze the procedures by a financial financial institution in the south of Minas
Gerais regarding the evaluation process followed (analysis, selection and monitoring)
of third-party projects with socio-environmental impacts.
To carry out the cooperative research, the case study method and the analysis of the

  • This work proposes the creation of a business intelligence pilot project that can provide information, in a friendly and intuitive way, about the academic performance of undergraduate students, to the managers of these courses, in order to assist them in their taking of decisions. Providing these managers with specific data, information and knowledge is a way to help them during their management, so that they do not need to act without the support of consistent information, which can result in unproductive actions that will not achieve the desired result. The impact of the volume, speed and variety of information to which organizations are exposed require innovative and quick responses for decision making, especially related to information retrieval and automatic knowledge extraction, which consolidate the importance of high performance management. For this, managers must have at their fingertips, tools that can provide the information they need in a friendly and intuitive way. In this environment, managers will be able to carry out analyzes on academic data collected from students, such as grades, results, academic indexes, attendance, course time, way of entering the university, and other information. Thus, they will be able to use this information to assist them in their decision-making. In the development of this work, the Soft System Methodologic methodology and the Kimball methodology were applied to the development of the Business Intelligence Data Warehouse. First, a requirements analysis was carried out through two surveys: a questionnaire for undergraduate course coordinators, and a documental survey on the service system for users of the university's information systems. A triangulation of the collected data was then carried out to find out if they are present in the academic system's database. To complete the construction of the Data Warehouse, its dimensional model was developed. This Data Warehouse will be used to feed an OLAP tool, which will provide information in a friendly and intuitive way to course managers to assist them in their decision making. The cycle ends with the evaluation of this tool by the managers and, if there are new suggestions to improve it, the cycle will start again. With this work, initially, a pilot project will be created to meet an old need within the university, which is to provide undergraduate course managers with information in a friendly, easy-to-read, graphic format, about the academic performance of undergraduate course students, to assist them in their decision-making.

  • Facing an increasingly diversified and dynamic economic market, and despite financial education presenting growth in recent years, the Brazilian population has deficiencies in responsibilities and decision making as well as their effective knowledge about finances seems to be deficient. This work diagnosed the financial education of students residing in the Federal Institute of Minas Gerais - Bambuí Campus, from the analysis of the financial knowledge index, associating them with personality factors measured by the Big Five Inventory. The research proposal was quantitative, descriptive and applied. Fifty-seven students from the institute's higher education courses, who benefit from the Student Housing program, participated in the research. The sample was selected by invitation. The data were collected through a survey, treated and analyzed quantitatively with the help of SPSS software. The research showed a low level of financial knowledge in the population studied. The students showed a lack of knowledge about concepts such as interest, inflation, insurance and investment risk analysis. Furthermore, based on the research results, no correlation was found between the financial knowledge index and the personality factors. These results allowed the elaboration of a mini course product so that the population could receive knowledge about the theme and opportunities to apply it in their financial life. Financial education is seen as an important instrument to fill this gap and, applied to the studied public, it raises this research to a healthier level, since college students represent the future of the intellectual and productive capacity of the country.

  • In recent years, the Federal Government, in order to ensure its budgetary balance, has been adopting contingency and resource cut measures, which affect, without distinction, all its entities. Among these are the Federal Education Institutions which, in order to maintain their activities without compromising the quality of the services provided, have sought alternatives for a more efficient use of these resources, which are increasingly scarce. Given this scenario, this work develops, at the Federal Institute of Education, Science and Technology of Minas Gerais (IFMG) - Campus Bambuí, a comparative economic-financial study for the management of the Food and Nutrition Unit (UAN), the University Restaurant. The commensurate management modalities were the provision of services, in which the company itself manages its UAN and has a part of the service outsourced (mixed self-management), a model used by the Institute, and outsourcing, which is the concession of use of an area physical, associated with the provision of a meal supply service - when the contractor is responsible for all stages of the production process (total concession). Valuation using the discounted cash flow method is used as a tool to define the best alternative that will enable a more efficient use of resources allocated to UAN. To calculate the operating costs of providing UAN services, the variable or direct costing model was used. To calculate the revenues, the sales prices already practiced for the meals were used and a simulation of future prices was also carried out, using as a basis the budgets provided by two service providers. Regarding research, it is an applied research with descriptive objectives through a quantitative-qualitative approach and whose methodological technical procedure is the case study. The results found, both through the deterministic analyzes carried out and the stochastic analyses, point to a better financial performance of UAN outsourcing. Given this fact, it is also expected that the work can contribute to a possible bidding process for the UAN concession

  • The federal government, in recent years, to ensure its budgetary balance, has been adopting measures of contingency and cut of resources, directly affecting essential areas such as health and education. In the area of education, the Federal Institutes of Education (IFs), due to this decrease in transfers received, have been encouraged, through their managers, to seek more efficient alternatives for the use of these resources in order not to harm the quality of its main teaching, research and extension activities. In this context, the present work aimed to develop a cost management model to make the Pig Farming Laboratory of the Federal Institute of Minas Gerais (IFMG) - Campus Bambuí more efficient. Therefore, an applied and descriptive research was carried out, through a case study, with a quali-quantitative approach, using documental research, unstructured interviews and participant observation as data collection instruments. To achieve the proposed objective, it was necessary, after data collection, to map the laboratory's production process, determine its operating costs, form the transfer price and the sale price, in addition to calculating its contribution margin and the balance point. For process mapping, the BPMN (Business Process Model and Notation) technique was used. From this mapping, it was possible to better understand each of the stages of this process and, combined with the best management practices in swine production, it was improved, creating a system of procedures that allowed reducing operating costs and increasing revenue. In order to calculate the operational costs of laboratory production, variable or direct costing was adopted. For the transfer price, the administered price method was used, and for the sales price, the competition-based method. Contribution margin and break-even point were also calculated for the Pig Farming Laboratory, considering a scenario where the animal was sold per kilogram live. The result obtained served as a parameter to guide the point from which the analyzed laboratory would become self-sufficient. It should be noted that the study was limited to the investigation of the production costs of the Laboratory of Pig farming at IFMG - Campus Bambuí from January 2018 to December 2020. The result of this work is an efficient cost management model whereby the institution managers can improve the process and use of resources employed in the laboratory studied.

  • Given the importance that Micro and Small Enterprises (MPE) have for generating income and employment in Brazil and their small participation in international business, it is necessary to broaden the discussion on their internationalization process. Thus, the objective of this dissertation is to identify and analyze the presence and interaction of internal (organizational) factors as indicators of favorable conditions for the internationalization of MPE from the Technology-Based Companies Incubator of Itajubá. Through a survey, 72 startups incubated and graduated by the innovation environment of the Technology-Based Companies Incubator of Itajubá/MG (Incit) were invited to answer a questionnaire in order to present the results to the local public administration to guide policies promoting international entrepreneurship. From the descriptive analysis of 36 responses received and validated during the 2nd semester of the year 2021, it is concluded that, in general, companies have the potential to internationalize. Even without support for their insertion in foreign markets, some responding companies have already gone international. There is a high level of human capital and a latent capacity for innovation, with flaws in marketing planning and little international experience.

  • In a highly competitive market, where resources are increasingly scarce, efficient cost management has become a determining factor in the success of an organization, helping managers in planning, control, operational development and, above all, in their managerial decisions . Thus, the search for ways to improve their processes and reduce their costs became the great challenge for these managers, both in the private and public sectors. In the public sector, in recent years, several government agencies are affected with an additional aggravating factor, which is the restriction and cutback of resources. Among these bodies, the Federal Teaching Institutions, subordinated to the Ministry of Education, have been suffering significant cuts in their budgets, compromising resources destined for current expenses and investments. Given this scenario, to avoid a reduction or even standstill in their activities, managers have been looking for alternatives that minimize the effects of these restrictions and cuts in resources, including being challenged to explore new sources of revenue. In this context are the Federal Institutes of Education, Science and Technology of Minas Gerais (IFMG), whose objective is to offer professional and technological education aimed at strengthening local productive arrangements. To achieve this goal, some IFMG campuses have laboratories dedicated to practical and professional training that normally consume part of the resources received, but which can also provide, in addition to teaching, alternative sources of income with their production. The objective of this study is to develop, with the help of the mapping of processes in the production chain of the poultry sector for cutting and laying, one of the Agricultural and Environmental Practice Laboratories (LPAAs) of the Federal Institute of Minas Gerais - Campus Bambuí, and of Good Production Practices for commercial strains of broilers and laying hens, a cost management model that helps managers in decision-making. The study was based on an applied research with descriptive and normative objectives, through a qualitative approach. Regarding the methodological technical procedure, the case study strategy was adopted to solve a specific problem. The model proved to be a tool that provides greater visibility of the entire production chain, which helps to identify bottlenecks and reduce costs, in addition to providing information that assists in decision-making, control and performance evaluation of the production process and in pricing and marketing of products, providing a more efficient management of resources and conditions for an annual increase in own collection at IFMG - Campus Bambuí.

  • The Business Process Management (BPM) principles and practices that guide organizations in managing their processes can also be used in administrative processes. The management of processes has as a fundamental part the explanation of the same, allowing a knowledge of its essential elements. This explanation can be performed using modeling tools. The Business Process Model and Notation (BPMN) and Decision Model and Notation (DMN) modeling techniques, applied in an integrated manner, allow decision-aware business processes to be designed, separating process logic from decision logic. The objective of this work was the construction of process and decision models, from the integrated application of BPMN and DMN modeling techniques in an administrative process of a Federal Institution of Higher Education (IFES). A Literature Review was presented in order to portray the state of the art of the subject in question. The method used in this research was modeling, applying the problem-solving diagram through the construction of models, with the adoption of the shortcut called Loop I - II - III - I. The research cycle was carried out three times in a way sequenced, the first cycle being for process modeling and the others for decision modeling at the requirement and logic level. The integrated use of the techniques resulted in independent and complementary process and decision models, which allow the elaboration of flexible documents, which are easy to maintain and which provide knowledge management aimed at the interested party and their area of expertise. The models portray the process and decisions as they are, enabling the analysis of improvements, standardization of procedures, employee training, knowledge management and auditing in the development of activities. This research contributes to the literature, since only 04 studies were identified referring to the integrated use of modeling techniques in administrative processes, and none of them dealt specifically with the referred processes belonging to an IFES. The research collaborated in a practical way by building models that allowed the analysis and projection of improvements to the process and decisions, even enabling the construction of a model of the future state (to be). It also collaborated, proposing a roadmap for the integrated application of BPMN and DMN modeling techniques, so that it can be replicated in other administrative processes in an IFES. And, finally, it collaborated by specifying its limitations and proposing recommendations for future work.

  • Innovation by the entrepreneur acts as a condition for development and has been the main resource for the success of organizations. Therefore, the objective of this dissertation is the general objective of this research is to analyze the form of description of entrepreneurship actions in the taking as the object of this study. For this, a descriptive quantitative-qualitative case study was carried out. Procedurally, a systematic bibliographic study was carried out to survey the attributes and factors that were considered in the description model. The theoretical basis was about private entrepreneurs and entrepreneurial universities as an ecosystem. By constitution, the last factors listed constituted the model that was applied through semi-structured interviews with the managers of the Higher Education Institution - IES. 230 manufacturers of specific products from the IES were applied. The institution focuses a lot on the importance of entrepreneurial behavior. The college mainly presents social entrepreneurial projects. It was found that the main factors that limit entrepreneurship are: funding, student availability and entrepreneurial culture at the teaching level. There is a lack of teacher engagement and isolated work around entrepreneurship. This research investigates the approach of entrepreneurship in private HEIs. Contributed with a description of points that can also be considered by the HEI for carrying out exercises and around entrepreneurship and the ecosystem in which it is incorporated.

  • Entrepreneurship Education is today an extensive challenge for Higher Education Institutions, which are strong promoters of socioeconomic development through the training of entrepreneurs and the advancement of entrepreneurship. Within the context, we find an entrepreneurship program, called “Desafio dos 50 Reais”, offered to the Business Administration students from Centro Universitário Salesiano de São Paulo, campus Lorena. The aforementioned challenge was initially implemented in 2015 has, since then, undergone reformulations year after year compared to what is found in the literature as best practices and pedagogical strategies. These improvements were conceived based on an entrepreneurship education offered in an uncertain and ambiguous environment, developing a creation mindset (effectuation) on students, besides having structured pedagogical strategies from entrepreneurship as a method. The present study carried out a case study of the program’s reformulation based on a historical documentary analysis between the years 2015-2017, and a documentary analysis of the reformulated D50 for 2018, together with qualitative perceptions collected from the participating students. It is concluded that the entrepreneurship program presents clear evidence of conformity with the literature and precepts of entrepreneurship as a method, in addition to a rethought journey for training entrepreneurs. Lastly, a D50 implementation kit was developed containing an implementation manual, documentation, theoretical framework in order to replicate this program and strengthen the training of entrepreneurs in local contexts.

  • Introduction: Decision making support in the context of dropout in higher education institutions requires systemic monitoring of dropout rates and the description of dropout students by personal and academic variables. The initial premise is the development of an institutional repository that stores historical and non-volatile data, the data warehouse, is the tool that enables the Federal University of Itajubá (Unifei) to respond to this demand. Objective: The main objective is the development and implementation of a DW for decision-making support on dropouts at Unifei. The secondary objectives are to discover methods for the development of data warehouses, to discover methods and metrics used to calculate dropout rates and to know the descriptive characteristics of students related to dropout. Methods: The object of study is Unifei and the management information system in use at the institution, the Sistema Integrado de Gestão de Atividades Acadêmicas (SIGAA). To guide the intervention, a methodology was proposed using soft systems methodology and the Ralph Kimball’s method of developing data warehouses. Bibliographic research was conducted in education journals to collect data related to dropouts. Documentary research was conduct on SIGAA’s database to assess the data available. Results: The bibliographic research revealed three groups of methods for calculating dropout rates: methods that consider complete generations of students, methods that consider only newcomers within a specific period and methods that propose the monitoring of historical series. The positive and negative points were contrasted between the groups and a proposed calculation method was derived from the literature. Also, from the bibliographic source, 65 descriptive variables about the students were identified, being 33 personal variables (50.5%) and 32 variables related to the students' academic life (49.2%). Documentary research was conducted in the SIGAA database and the subsequent data triangulation showed that SIGAA stores the data necessary to calculate dropout rates from courses since 1998. Furthermore, SIGAA stores 23 (35.4%) descriptive variables identified in the literature. The information requirements derived from the data sources triangulation were used to guide the development of the data warehouse. Architectural models of the data, both dimensional and physical, were realized. The necessary steps to extract data from its sources, treatments performed and loading into the data warehouse environment were described. Conclusion: The evidence brought by the results supports the statement that the development and implementation of an institutional DW is a tool that allows higher education institutions to monitor the phenomenon of dropout in a systematic, periodic, and constant manner.

  • With a service volume of around 3,500 maintenance demands per year, UNIFEI's Directorate of Works and Infrastructure carries out varied and complex processes, which, when not clearly defined, are the cause of management problems in the sector, such as rework, delays and even not performing a necessary activity. The lack of procedures in the management of processes creates uncertainties about responsibilities and attributions. The objective of this work is to propose improvements to increase the efficiency of the maintenance processes of UNIFEI's infrastructure, through improvements in the quality of information. For this, the main dimensions of quality that interfere in the infrastructure process were identified, the process for building maintenance at UNIFEI was mapped and inferences were made in this process for its improvement. It was found that the lack of Completeness is the most relevant factor to cause rework and increase the number of calls in the database of the Directorate of Works and Infrastructure - DOBI. With the implementation that was carried out in the process, creating the inspection step in the process flow, it is expected that there will be no further rework due to this factor, lack of Completeness, because the inspection will provide conditions for adequate survey of the information for the execution of the process service.

  • Information about how much each product sold contributes to the results of a company is essential, since, based on accurate information, it is possible to make better decisions in business processes. Often companies have data in their databases, but these data need to be worked on in order to generate relevant information for managers. This work aims to develop an information system for monitoring costs and gross margin related to the prices practiced at the time of sale. The methodology chosen for this study was action research due to the
possibility of relating academic and practical objectives. This way, a tool was created integrating accounting data of costs of products sold with the sales prices and the gross margin of products in each customer. As a result, a report was prepared on intranet consulting to company’s databases, which presents quick reports where managers can work directly in price adjustments with customers, when necessary, in addition to using this information in planning for the following years.

  • Entrepreneurship is one of the main factors responsible for a country's economic development and the improvement of social conditions; it also involves good professional performance and personal fulfillment. Consequently, entrepreneurial education presents itself as one of the most effective instruments to boost the emergence of entrepreneurs. However, most Brazilian schools do not use teaching practices that stimulate the entrepreneurial profile, as is the case of the Professional Education Center “Tancredo Neves”, a public educational institution where this research was conducted. Given this context, the objective of this work was to develop a teaching methodology that, through its application, would promote entrepreneurial skills in students. It is believed that the expansion of these competencies increases the chances of success in the students' intimate and functional life and an innovative teaching methodology, with proven effectiveness, can benefit many other students and institutions, making the classes and the academic learning process more attractive and productive; and that society, likewise, is contemplated with the addition of new entrepreneurs. This research has an applied nature, with descriptive objectives, based on a qualitative approach and characterized as a case study. She completed a class on the technical course of Administration at the Professional Education Center “Tancredo Neves”. For its realization, stimulating teaching activities of entrepreneurial skills were designed and used in the classes. A questionnaire to verify the entrepreneurial profile was applied before and after the students participated in these activities in order to identify whether or not they caused impacts in this aspect. The new teaching methodology pleased the students participating in the research, as it made it possible for them to have unprecedented experiences which made them progress personally and professionally, in addition, it made the classes more captivating and profitable. The analysis of the questionnaires answered by the students revealed that everyone was closer to being considered a true entrepreneur. It was concluded, with the accomplishment of this research that the teaching methods adopted by the teachers and by the schools can directly influence in the interest, in the participation and in the development of entrepreneurial competences of the students and that the educational institutions can, effectively, add more entrepreneurs the society.

  • This project presents an application of the concepts and tools of Lean Manufacturing (LM) in an electrical equipment company with Engineer-To-Order (ETO) production typology. Using the Value Stream Mapping (VSM) technique and the Action Research method, we sought the elimination of waste in a production line with a high variety of products and projects, with the objective of increasing productivity and reduce manufacturing Lead Time and need for overtime. In this sense, the gains obtained were an increase in productivity due to a reduction of 9.5% in the required operators and a reduction of 61.7% in Manufacturing Lead Time and 75% in the need for overtime. In addition to these practical contributions, the paper also presents conceptual contributions, first, in elaborating a Systematic Review of Literature (SRL) to identify the difficulties, adaptations and recommendations already pointed out by the main journals regarding the application of Lean Manufacturing concepts and tools in Engineer environments -To-Order, and secondly by proposing new adaptations and recommendations, such as systematic for the determination of the cycle time of the manufacturing steps and for the balancing using the multifunctionality of the operators, as well as the production control using the time Pitch rather than the Takt time, the implementation of the continuous flow for the daily production lot and the use of tools such as Standardized Work and Visual Management.

  • The government expenditure in electricity bills of public universities represents 11.4% of the total expenditure of the Brazilian Federal Government on universities. Literature shows that the renewable energy generation has been taking place in the world's energy matrixes and, in particular, the photovoltaic generation is growing, including in universities. In Brazil, photovoltaic generation has grown in the last years and there is still room for growth. This research project presents a modeling for the economic viability evaluation and risk management in contracts for building and renting photovoltaic distributed energy generation at Universidade Federal de Itajubá (UNIFEI). Simulations are realized through four technical configurations according the proposed method. From these simulation results, comparisons are realized between two contract models: Construction Model, in which the University makes the investment on a photovoltaic system therefore reduces its energy costs, and Location Model, in which a leasing company makes the investment in the photovoltaic system, installs it on UNIFEI and then it will receive a rent from the University which the value is equivalent to its electricity bill, but reduced by a percentage discount. Finally, a comparison between these two models is realized to find the best solution for the University.

  • Various techniques and management tools are useful for administrative work, to improving and increasing the efficiency of institutions. The use of these tools by the public sector has advantages for the manager and for society, who benefit from the services offered. In this action research, two management tools were applied in a specific process of a Federal Public University. The process mapping, using the Business Process Model and Notation (BPMN) technique, and the risk management tool, according to the method referenced by the Brazilian Court of Audit (TCU). The objective of this research is to analyze the interaction and possible contributions of the BPMN in the process of risk management, and to expose about the applicability and relevance of the tools, based on the views of the researcher, the manager and his work team. The action research was developed in four cycles, and data were collected directly, from observation and interviews, and indirectly, from research and documentary analyzes. It can be concluded that the process mapped through BPMN interacted in a collaborative way with the applied risk management method, because it enabled to identify visually in the process map, directly or indirectly, the most critical risk events. The tools used were considered applicable, highlighting the need of a person with technical knowledge to apply them, and were considered extremely relevant for the improvement of process management. The methods are independent, but the process map via BPMN complemented risk management by making the flow of all process activities visible and clear, enabling the identification of risk events, demonstrating a positive interaction between the tools.

Financial education is a useful tool in the development of financial knowledge among the researched public, making research with university students even more relevant, as they represent the future of the country's intellectual and productive capacity. The study is justified by the need to deepen studies on financial education in Brazil and also on the way personality factors are associated with knowledge. Research indicates, in general, that the population does not have basic knowledge to make right decisions about their finances and inefficiency in financial decisions contributes to the fragility of the economic and social scenario, since individuals with no financial knowledge have difficulty managing their resources, planning their retirement, purchasing appropriate financial products and services. By measuring the level of students' financial knowledge, a result was obtained for the male profile higher than the female profile. Regarding personality profiles, the factors Extroversion and Consciousness presented higher scores among the female profile, while the factors Kindness, Neuroticism and Openness presented higher scores for the male profile. Regarding the correlation of financial knowledge and personality profiles, the factors Openness and Extroversion were negatively correlated with financial knowledge.

  • Standard time is key information for manufacturing decision-making processes such as sizing a production line, determining production lead time, performing equipment costing, and profitability analysis. Companies that follow the engineer to order strategy provide customers with the possibility of product customization, and high customization can impact a high variability in the execution times of their manufacturing activities. Thus, this research aims to evaluate the impact caused by the consideration of a single time on the indicators and decision-making processes of an engineer to order company in the electrical sector that manufactures instrument transformers. Specifically, the purpose is to identify how standard time is used in the composition of indicators and in the company's decision-making processes and, from analysis, present a procedure for choosing time according to the configuration of each product, thus aiming to reduce miscalculations and improve decision making. Also, another specific objective is to confront the decision processes identified during the work with those related to the studies of the times found in the literature. The method applied for the development of the work was the case study, and the case study was the production process in which the execution times suffer great variation due to customization. Chronometric data were collected for different projects, and based on the collected data, standard times for the projects were calculated and then the identified indicators were recalculated using the standard time obtained for each project. After the analyzes, the impacts on the identified indicators and decisions were demonstrated and the comparison between the indicators that use the standard time of the company with those found in the literature was presented. Among some of the results obtained, the 72 kV transformer presented a project with the calculated standard time 267.4% higher than the one considered, which resulted in a 36.5% higher cost. The 145 kV transformer presented a project with the calculated standard time 87.26% lower than considered, which resulted in a 13.07% lower cost than considered. In the end, a project time selection procedure was developed.
